"Graphic design is the most ubiquitous of all the arts. It responds to
needs at once personal and public, embraces concerns both economic and
ergonomic, and is informed by many disciplines, including art and architecture,
philosophy and ethics, literature and language, science and politics and
performance.
Graphic design is complex combinations of words and pictures, numbers and charts, photographs and illustrations that, in order to succeed, demands the clear thinking of a particularly thoughtful individual who can orchestrate these elements so they all add up to something distinctive, or useful, or playful, or surprising, or subversive or somehow memorable.
Graphic design is a popular art and a practical art, an applied art and an ancient art.
Simply put, it is the art of visualizing ideas.”

I would like to congratulate all of the 21012 Visual Design graduating seniors: Toni Duncan, Michael Hyatte, Demarcus Jones, Emily Peeler, Tavis Redding, Maria Rojas and Anthony White. It has been a pleasure to be associated with such talented students and people of your caliber. I look forward to hearing from you as you start the next chapter of your lives.
I am hoping to have a Visual Design Alumni gathering in the Fall, so keep watching this site for information. Please pass this web address along to your fellow designers!
Congratulations to juniors, Austin Searcy and Irvin Perez for their successful completion of the SEMP mentoring program. Your mentor at Matchbox Creative tells me that she received many compliments on both of you. The folks at Matchbox said they were impressed by the caliber of your work; that it was equal to that of their college sophomores. Excellent job.
A special thank you to junior Austin Searcy for all of his help in recruitment throughout the year, making commercials and generally being CTM's "go to guy".
Congratulations to senior Demarcus Jones and junior, Austin Searcy. Both of these young men passed their SkiilsUSA certification for Advertising and Design.Way to go! We are very proud of you.
I am looking into inexpensive class shirts. If you have suggestions as to who to use for printing, let me know.
It looks the GenCon field trip is a "go", so far. Start saving! You will have to pay your own admission and lunch. We provide transportation to and from, supervision and a day off campus- a Friday at that. I wanted to make sure you got your money's worth. Return to school in time to catch the activity bus and once you have signed out, you can always go back to Gen Con. They close at 10 pm. I have been informed that there is very little budget for filed trips next year, so it is good that we already have our proposal in. Stay tuned for more information.
